The Nation

The Nation is an English language newspaper in Pakistan operating since 1986. Currently, it is being edited by Rameeza Nizami, the daughter of one of the most renowned Pakistani Journalist, Majid Nizami.

The Nation is published daily from Islamabad, Multan, Karachi, and Lahore. It publishes under the banner of Nawa-i-Waqt Group which was founded by Hameed Nizami in 1950. He himself edited the paper until 1962. The paper was later led by chief editor Majid Nizami and Arif Nizami, who is the nephew of Majid.

The paper also has an Urdu edition which goes by the name Nawa-i-Waqt and is published daily in Pakistan. The Nation newspaper also has 4 weekly magazines published in English alongside the paper. The Urdu paper also has magazines published regularly.

Nawa-i-Waqt group also owns a news channel ‘Waqt News TV’ which is broadcasted directly from its headquarters in Lahore.

Nawa-i-Waqt Urdu paper was launched way back in 1940 before the independence of Pakistan under the leadership of its editor Mr. Hameed Nizami. It is one of the most influential papers of Pakistan and holds a special place in the hearts of the public of Pakistan because it portrayed itself as the guardian of Pakistan’s ideology. Currently, the Urdu paper is one of the top 4 papers of Pakistan.

The Nation gained traction in the early years of Pakistan because of its honest and impartial news reporting. Ever since then the newspaper has introduced several magazines that are read regularly by people in the country.

The core mission of the group has always been to empower their readers through the content published in its papers and on television. There is always a unique perspective to various stories in the country through the paper, this is what helps make it stand out from the rest of papers in Pakistan.
